Families are one of the most important parts of the medical care team. You know your child better than anyone, and you should understand and agree with their care plan. Our pediatric hospitalists, nurses; and other specialists will communicate and work with you on a daily basis. We share all test results and treatment plans so you can make informed decisions about what's best for your child.

We encourage you to participate in your child's care, and we’ll teach you the skills you need to care for your child at home, everything from changing dressings and using a nebulizer to administering medications.

Your Care Team

If your child has been admitted to Chippenham Hospital, you can take comfort knowing they are surrounded by a compassionate and highly skilled team of specialists.

Our team has specialized training and certification in pediatrics and includes pediatricians, hospitalists, nurses, occupational, speech and respiratory therapists, registered dieticians, pharmacists and case managers/social workers. Doctors from a variety of specialties are available to evaluate a child’s condition and consult on treatment.

Comforts of Home

Everything in our pediatric units has been designed around the comfort of our patients and their families. All of our patients have private rooms, which include WiFi Internet access, phones, flat screen TVs, DVD players and Wii Game Systems. A kitchen equipped with a microwave and refrigerator is available for your use.

Our pediatric team of doctors, nurses, and support staff is highly specialized and dedicated to your child 24/7

You may visit your child 24/7 and if needed, a place will be provided for parents with blankets and pillows. We even have a playroom so children and their families can play games, build, color, read and watch age-appropriate television together.

Your nurse will review visiting hours and guidelines when you arrive on the unit. Family visitation is strongly encouraged so that your child can feel at ease and focus on recovery. However, visitation by others may be limited based on your child's location or care plan. Our first priority is always a safe and quick recovery for your child.

Pediatric Hospitalists

Pediatric hospitalists are doctors who work in the hospital rather than in private practice. Many pediatricians and family doctors rely on our hospitalist services when their patients are in the hospital to provide them with expert care around the clock. Pediatric hospitalists provide regular updates to your regular physician about your child’s progress and help transition care back to your regular doctor when your child leaves the hospital.
